When temperatures are touching 45 degrees, caution is your best medicine.
The summer season is currently at its peak. With daytime temperatures soaring between 40 to 45 degrees Celsius, the impact on our bodies can be significant. Fatigue, dizziness, nausea, and even fainting are common during this season. It is therefore essential that we make a few important changes to our daily routine and keep ourselves safe.
Stay Hydrated, Drink Plenty of Water
In the heat, the body loses water rapidly through sweat. Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day and keep consuming fluids regularly. At the workplace too, take regular breaks to have water, lemonade, or other beverages so that your body never runs low on fluids.
Pay Special Attention to Your Diet
Include fresh fruits and vegetables in your meals during this season. Avoid spicy and fried foods and stick to simple, light meals. Do not eat food that was cooked in the morning and left out until the evening, as food spoils quickly in the heat.
Protect Your Skin and Body from the Sun
Avoid staying out in direct sunlight for long periods without protection. Wear light and loose cotton clothing that keeps the body cool. Cover your head when stepping outside and use sunscreen to protect your skin from the harsh rays of the sun.
Do Not Ignore These Warning Signs
If you or anyone around you experiences nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, or fainting due to the heat, consult a doctor immediately. Ignoring these symptoms can be dangerous.
Stay alert, stay safe this summer, and look out for those around you.
